Today my Addonics NAS 2.0 Adapter arrived. If you’ve never seen these before, they’re exactly what they sound like. Ethernet port on one end, two USB ports on the other; one for a printer, the other for USB Mass Storage. This little guy will turn any USB storage device into a NAS for $80 AUD. It has some limitations, like only being able to utilise FAT32 and having a max. capacity of 2TB, but it does what it says on the tin. It also has some other nice features like a print server (hence the extra USB port), BitTorrent, FTP, etc. I haven’t tested most of these yet.
I connected it to the 1TB Buffalo I bought a few weeks ago and, having always wanted my own datacenter, I lovingly named it “SpartaCenter”.
